Lake Michigan is the third largest of the Great Lakes and the sixth largest freshwater lake in the world. Map Bordered by Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin it is the only one of the Great Lakes that lies completely within the borders of the United States. Lake Michigan provides some of the best fishing for steelhead, coho salmon, perch, chinook salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout, brown trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and walleye in the Midwest. The states surrounding the lake were settled in the early 1800's providing a rich tradition with many regional cooking specialties and techniques. The Midwest style of cooking can be both simple and elegant. We will be adding regional recipes offering the unique flavors of Midwest cooking and some other favorite recipes from different areas.
