Waders for Surf Fishing

Waders or waterproof boots are almost a requirement for fishing the surf. If you do not want to get your feet wet either chest waders, hip waders, or some form of waterproof boots are required. If wading into the surf there are several safety items to remember:

A wading staff is a plus to test the depth and firmness of the sand.
Waves will wash the sand out from under your feet, to maintain stable footing you need to adjust your footing often.
Always use a wader belt to prevent your waders from filling up with water.
Use caution wading in areas with current near river mouths.
